On the slopes, we don't fool around with safety!

How can we significantly improve safety on the slopes?

Safety on the ski slopes is managed in each resort by the piste services, staffed by specially trained and qualified personnel: ski and rescue patrol, piste grooming machine operators, snow-makers, avalanche controllers, snow-weather observers, avalanche dog handlers, and piste control operators.

To give an example, over 2000 rescues were carried out on the Grand Massif slopes during the 2022-2023 winter season.

But safety is also a matter for everyone!

To ensure that your holiday goes as smoothly as possible, we have revised the code of conduct on the slopes, which is based on 10 rules. Rules that we invite you to apply and spread around you!

1. RESPECT

You're not the only one on the slopes : respect and look out for others.

2. CAUTION

Weather conditions, snow conditions, crowded slopes: stay alert and be smart about what you do.

3. TRAJECTORY

The golden rule: priority to the skier - rider below you on the piste.

4. OVERTAKING

Overtake on the right or left, but allow enough space.

5. CROSSINGS AND SETTING OFF

At junctions, pay extra attention and look around you. The same applies at the start of a slope!

6. BREAKS

Take a break, but not anywhere: stay in sight. You've fallen? Get off tge slope as soon as possible.

7. PEDESTRIANS ON THE SLOPE

Need to go up or down the slope on foot? Use tge edges of the slopes, so you don't get in the way.

8. INFORMATION

Saty informed about the weather, piste maintenance, signposting, markings and snow conditions.

9. HELPING OTHERS

You've seen or caused an accident? Give a hand: alert the rescue services and stay with the people involved.

10. ASSISTANCE

Witnessing or involved in an accident? Make yourself known to the ski patrollers and co-operate with them.
